Small-cap stocks are shares of smaller companies with a market capitalization of less than $2 billion. Investing in both types of stocks can help to balance the risk and return potential of your portfolio.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Investing in both growth and value stocks<\/strong>: Growth stocks are companies that are expected to grow their earnings at an above-average rate compared to other companies in the market. Value stocks are companies that are trading at a lower price relative to their fundamentals, such as earnings or book value.
